Today's recipe is a very common one in Spain, but it will be interesting to know for our visitors from outside Spain. To make 'croquetas' we will need:
- 1/2 chicken breast boiled
- 1 small onion
- Butter (25g / 1oz aprox.)
- Milk (3/4 litre)
- Flour (4 spoons)
- 1 stock cube / bouillon cube
- 1 Egg
- Breadcrumbs
Ingredients |
First chop the onion and the chicken. Then put the butter on a frying pan over low heat and when the butter melts add the chopped onion. When the onion is tender add the chicken, stir it and the 4 spoons of flour, and stir it all during 3 minutes.
Next, add the milk and the stock /bouillon cube crumbled, turn up the heat a little and stir. When it starts boiling turn the heat down and stir it until it's well cooked (around 10 minutes).
The dough almost ready |
Once the dough is ready put it on a platter and let it cool down.
The dough ready |
When it is cold shape it in small 'croquetas' (see last picture) and cover them in egg and breadcrumbs.
